NorthPointe Resources holds its Annual Appreciation Reception

 

NorthPointe Resources recently held their Annual Appreciation Reception. This year’s “Thank You” event was held at the Killian Center and  celebrated the donors, volunteers, board of directors, staff, program participant and community partners for the outstanding contributions they have made in the past year to support NorthPointe’s mission.

The evening began with a welcome speech given by the organization’s CEO, Dina Donohue-Chase and was followed by the naming of Joe Virgilio, who has served on the board since 2010, as the Board Member of the Year. “Not only is Joe an active member of the board of directors, he is also a great ambassador for NorthPointe. He brings several tables of family, friends and business associates to our events and participates in many volunteer and fundraising activities,” stated Robert Johnson, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors.

Next came one of the highlight of the evening – a heart-warming speech given by Gary Richards, a NorthPointe program participant. He spoke eloquently about his journey toward living independently and obtaining his dream job in the community and the part that NorthPointe played in his successes in life.

Gary’s speech was followed by the presentation of awards to outstanding volunteers and community partners (“You Make a Difference Award” and “The Community Spirit Award”) and program participants, one of which was Gary Richards.

The “Employee of the Year Award” was presented to the employee who shows exceptional dedication, passion and leadership skills. This year’s recipient was Kendra Stover. “Kendra’s ability to see the positive in situations is inspiring and one to be modeled. She is an unwavering cheerleader for NorthPointe and the services that we provide,” said Heather Holub as part of her nomination for Kendra. A special award this year was presented to: Renee Holmes, a 20 year employee at NorthPointe, for an act of extreme heroism in utilizing her CPR education to save the life of a program participant. “It’s employees like Renee, whose dedication and passion for the people we support the exemplify our mission,” stated Dr. Sue Radtke, VP of Clinical Services. Ms. Homes was also presented a letter and certificate from the American Heart Association.

The event ended with lots of mingling and congratulations. “It is such a pleasure to celebrate the wonderful people who make NorthPointe a success,” Stated Ms. Donohue, “it’s their contributions that truly make a difference every day.
