It’s everyone’s most wonderful time of the year! On December 16th more than 200 of NorthPointe’s program participants gathered for The Annual Holiday Hearts celebration. Every year NorthPointe program participants eagerly await the holiday party where they enjoy a delicious breakfast, followed by the singing of holiday carols and a visit from Santa and his crew from Tiny’s Social Club.
This year a member of the Waukegan Police Department was on hand to help celebrate with the attendees, after which volunteers distributed gifts. The Holiday Hearts celebration is important for many reasons. For some individuals this will be the only holiday celebration they will attend and the party allows them to enjoy the company of friends and those that support them during the holidays. For the individuals who do not have families, second gifts are gathered to be opened and enjoyed on Christmas morning.
The Holiday Hearts Party is planned and coordinated months in advance by NorthPointe staff and community volunteers. Gift lists are completed by program participants, distributed to gift-givers, including multi-gift participation from companies and individual donors. The Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) at Midwestern Regional Medical Center located in Zion, IL, is a great supporter of the Holiday Hearts Celebration and donated 75 gifts this year.
The now famous yearly Holiday Hearts Celebration remains a testament of holiday cheer and community involvement and giving.
