Grant Support

To further its mission, NorthPointe Resources solicits grants from governmental agencies and public and private foundations. Here are some recent grant funded projects:

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT)

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) awarded three paratransit mini van vehicles through their Consolidated Vehicle Procurement program. The vehicles are valued at approximately $41,000 each for a total of $123,000. The vehicles were received in September, 2016 and staff at NorthPointe have already been using them to transport program participants to appointments, interviews and volunteer opportunities.

FHC Charitable Foundation

Since 2009, NorthPointe has received an annual award of $2,000 from the FHC Charitable Foundation. A former employee, who still believes in the value of the work performed by NorthPointe, applies for this grant on our behalf. It is generally earmarked for improvements to the community homes.

The Coleman Foundation

NorthPointe recently completed the remodeling and refurbishing of a bathroom and kitchens in four community homes. This project, which used Universal Design concepts, was made possible by a grant from the Coleman Foundation in the amount of $95,000.

The Coleman Foundation also provided matching grants for NorthPointe’s #GivingTuesday campaign in 2014 ($15,000) and 2015 ($20,000). This incentive allowed NorthPointe to raise more than $38,000 in one day in 2015!

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity

In January 2016, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity awarded $100,000 to NorthPointe Resources through their Disability Employment Initiative Funding for Special Projects program. This award was used to fund the Access, Opportunities and Options in Employment Project. The Access, Opportunities and Options in Employment project seeks to advance employment services to individuals with disabilities by ensuring a responsive workforce system as well as individual program participant success by building partnerships, collaborative relationships, coordinating resources, and offering innovative services that focus on the needs of program participants. NorthPointe partnered with Lake County Work Force Development and uses the Job Center to work to align community and business resources to most effectively support a job seeker’s education, training or employment goals.
